Chengdu shows strong competitive strength

In the report, the city rankings of the National Shopping Center Consumer Index were published. From the overall index, Shanghai is far ahead, followed by Shenzhen, Beijing and Chengdu. Chengdu ranks fifth in the popularity index and fourth in the satisfaction index. Based on the data, the report points out that the shopping malls in Chengdu have developed vigorously in recent years, and their economic status as a major town in the Southwest has been demonstrated.

The report also analyses the current situation of the economic development of the first stores in China: the location of the first stores is concentrated in the first-tier and new-tier cities with more developed economy. Among them, the number of first stores in Shanghai ranks first in the country. The number of first stores increased from 226 in 2017 to 587, an increase of 161%. Shenzhen and Chengdu followed closely, showing strong competitiveness. In 2018, a total of 200 first stores chose to settle in Chengdu.

From Chengdu alone, there are two characteristics: the new shopping mall is very popular, and the commercial district is the most literary and artistic model. Data show that the number of first stores in the City and Chunxi business circles is 87 and 39 respectively, accounting for 43.5% and 19.5% of the total. Ren Xincheng, Longhu Xichen Tianjie and Youfang, newly opened in 2018, absorbed 51, 31 and 20 first-store brands, accounting for half of the total number of first-store brands in the city.

At the same time, many old literary streets and alleys in Chengdu are gradually taking shape, and the commerce of antique building blocks is gradually rising, which has become an important site for the first store brand. According to the latest statistics of Chengdu Retail Association, in the first quarter, Chengdu opened 65 first stores, including 3 National flagship stores, 8 national first stores and 14 southwestern first stores. This month, Chengdu issued "Opinions on the Implementation of Accelerating the Development of Urban Head Stores and Characteristic Shops". It is proposed that by 2021, there will be more than 200 new global, national and regional brand stores, flagship stores, experience stores and other brand headquarters each year, and more than 300 characteristic stores, of which 100 international and world brands will be introduced.

Relevant officials of the Municipal Business Bureau said that they hoped to take this conference as an opportunity to comprehensively speed up the economic development of Chengdu Shoudian, enhance the commercial quality of Chengdu and highlight the city's "international paradigm and Chengdu flavor".
